Early morning, after breakfast drive to Madurai. Arrive Madurai and check into hotel. Visit St. Mary's Cathedral, a 20th-century Neo-gothic building that is an architectural delight, on the outskirts of the city; you can also explore the Nagamalai, Yanaimalai, and Samanar Malai Mountain Ranges, which are historically and culturally significant. The ranges also provide Magnificent Views of the City. After this visit the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple, a Rock Cut Temple, believed to be construced by Pandyas in 06th Century, visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace to have a deeper understanding of regional history. It is the royal residence of the Madurai Nayaks, also visit Alagar Kovil and the Gandhi Museum. Our last but the most important visit of the day is Meenakshi Amman Temple, one of India's most revered temples, which is thought to have been constructed in the sixth century B.C. In the evening you may attend Aarati ceremonies (prayers) held at the Meenakshi Temple. Sound and Light Shows are also organized at the premise of the temple complex. Return to hotel for night stay.
