The location of Kolkata is a swamp delta of the huge rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra. Much of the historical events of Indian freedom war occurred in this place. The land of Kolkata produces a number of distinct personalities contributing the name and fame of India. It was once the hub of the British East India Company. Rest of the time at leisure. After breakfast start the city tour and visit Victoria Memorial: It is a two-storeyed edifice and enclosed within the marble walls of this elegant domed and minaret monument is India’s finest tribute. Birla Planetarium: - It is a fine planetarium, one of the largest in Asia, built after the Buddhist stupa at Sanchi. Dakshineswar: - On the bank of the river is a beautiful navaratna temple (with nine towers), dedicated to Bhabatarini (Goddess Kali). It was built by Rani Rashmoni and this temple is associated with the great religious prophet, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. There are 12 Siva temples and a temple of Radhakrishna at Dakshineswar. Tagore House: - The great poet Rabindranath was born here on 9th May, 1861 A.D. The Rabindra Bharati University and Museum are housed in these buildings. Overnight at the hotel.
Arrive at Dimapur airport, received and then proceed to Kohima (100 kms / 03 hrs drive), on reaching check into a hotel in Kohima. Overnight stay.
Today after breakfast we will drive to the venue of the Grand Hornbill festival, Kisema village (14 kms), explore the festival, there will be dances, songs, and lots of performances by the native Naga belonging to different tribes. Enjoy the local cuisine, later drive to Kohima and overnight stay.
Today we will spend the first half enjoying the festival and after lunch, we will visit Khonoma village (2 hrs drive from the venue of the Hornbill festival), explorethe village and later driveback to Kohima.The evening will be at leisure and overnight stay.
After breakfast drive to Kaziranga (07 hrs drive),on reaching check into a hotel and overnight stay.
Early morning go for an Elephant ride ( timing 5:00 AM/ 06:00 AM/ 7:00 AM) then return back to the lodge and after breakfast visit the Kaziranga National Orchid and Bio-diversity Park for an hour, After lunch and refreshment go for another Jeep Safariin the Western/ Central rangeof the park (timing 2:00AM / 3:00 AM) for 02 ½ hrs ( also depending on the sunset as in winters the sun sets early in Northeast India), evening at leisure. Overnight stay will be in Kaziranga.
After breakfast proceed for Guwahati (04 ½ hrs drive), on reaching check into hotel and after lunch and refreshment, local sightseeing in Guwahati, visit Kamakhya Temple,Umananda Temple, Craft Centers and localmarkets. Evening at leisure and overnight stay.
Today after breakfastdrive to Guwahatiairport for onward destination.
