Highlights of the Tour

The North India Classical Tour is a 16-day journey through India’s most historic, spiritual, and architectural marvels. Starting from Delhi’s Mughal-era monuments, the tour moves through Rajasthan’s vibrant desert towns—Mandawa’s frescoed havelis, Bikaner’s forts, and Jodhpur’s blue city charm—before reaching the royal grandeur of Jaipur. The route then winds through Agra’s Mughal legacy, including the majestic Taj Mahal, and continues to the spiritual and artistic centers of Orchha and Khajuraho, famed for their intricate temples. Finally, travelers experience the cultural heart of India in Allahabad and the sacred ghats of Varanasi, concluding with a flight back to Delhi. This tour offers an immersive exploration of India’s heritage, art, and spirituality.

Itinerary

Arrive in Delhi. You will be met by our representative in arrival lounge and transferred to hotel.  Overnight at the hotel. 

Breakfast at the hotel. Around 10AM, proceed on a city tour of Old and New Delhi. We start with Old Delhi and visit the majestic Jama Masjid (The Mosque) and enjoy a rickshaw ride through busy and historical Chandni Chowk. We continue and visit Gandhi Smiriti; and we make our way towards New Delhi and drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidents Palace and one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys) visit The India Gate: a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers.  P.M. visit Humayun’s Tomb, the tomb of Humayun was built by the orders of Bega Begum (also known as Haji Begum), Humayun's first wife and chief consort, The construction started in 1565, nine years after his death, and completed in 1572 AD at a cost of 1.5 million rupees at the time).  Qutub Minar of the 13th century an excellent example of Afghan Architecture. The Minar is 72.5 mts high victory tower, the construction of which began in the final year of twelfth century by Qutubuddin Aibak and later completed by his successor Iltutmish. Some shopping time and come back to the hotel the night stay.  

After breakfast, check out and drive to Mandaww. Ceck-into the hotel. Late in afternoon a short trip to Mandawa vilage to explore the various painted havelis and frescoes of the Shekhawati. Often called the open-air gallery of Rajasthan, this region has many frescoes painted on cenotaphs, walls, forts and temples dating back to the 17th century. The themes encompass traditional mythology, local legend and folklore. P.M. proceed on a heritage walking tour covering Murmuria Haveli – Famous for its modern frescoes, including a painting of Nehru on a horse,  Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli – Intricate artwork including mythological themes and European-style figures, Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli – Among the most elaborately painted, though partly in ruins, Bansidhar Newatia Haveli – Known for its painted telephones, trains, and gramophones, Chokhani Double Haveli – Twin havelis with mirror-like facades and a fusion of Rajput and British influences, Open Air Art Gallery – Streets of Mandawa themselves form this gallery; don’t miss mural walls and frescoes across local lanes. Return to the hotel by late evening and rest. Overnight at the hotel. 

After breakfast drive to Bikaner via Fatehpur, explore the painted havelies such as Goenka Chhatri (Chagrai) – Stunning domed cenotaph with delicate artwork and preserved frescoes Other notable havelis (if time permits): Nadine Le Prince Haveli (now an art gallery and cultural centre). Continue to Bikaner and arrive by afternoon. Check into the hotel and rest for some time. Late afternoon explore the city of Bikaner.  500 years ago, a desert chieftain established his kingdom here, and over the centuries, it has grown into an impressive town.  Visit Junagarh Fort. One of the few major forts not built on a hill, explore palaces, courtyards, temples, and the Anup Mahal, an excellent museum showcasing royal costumes, weapons, and artifacts. Our next visit will be to Bhandasar Jain Temple - 15th-century temple dedicated to the 5th Tirthankara. Famous for intricate frescoes, mirror work, and its legend of being built with ghee instead of water, after this we will visit the Camel Breeding Farm - Unique government-run camel research centre Watch camels of different breeds, try camel milk ice cream, and visit the museum. Overnight at the hotel. 

After an early breakfast drive to Jodhpur via Deshnoke (30 kms / 45 minutes). Arrive at Karni Mata Temple, Deshnoke (30 km / 45 min) Unique temple dedicated to Karni Mata, known for its holy rats (kabbas) Walk barefoot inside (carry socks if needed). Temple visit takes about 30–45 minutes. Continue drive to Jodhpur (5hrs). Arrive by late afternoon and check into the hotel. 

Rest of the time at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.  Jodhpur  Standing at the edge of the Thar Desert lays the 2nd largest city after Jaipur. This city houses a number of palaces, temples and other architectural monuments. Overnight at the hotel. 

Breakfast at the hotel. At 09AM, your guide will take you for a tour covering Meherangarh Fort- Considered as the most impressive fort in Rajasthan and one of the biggest in India, the Meherangarh fort is sprawled atop a perpendicular hill, 5 km uphill drive from the main city.  Our next visit will be off Jaswant Thada: The Jaswant Thada is an architectural landmark. It is a white marble memorial built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The monument, in its entirety, is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These stones are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when the sun's rays dance across their surface. The trip will be over in 2.5hrs and after that you may explore some local stores in Jodhpur. Our next visit will be Clock tower or Ghanta Ghar, which is a magnificent clock tower in the center of the city, built by Maharaja Sardar Singh about 200 years ago, from here walk towards Sardar market built by Sardar singh and one of the oldest markets of Jodhpur. After this we visit Gulab Sagar Lake (tank) and Toorji ka Jhalra; this step well was built in 1740 to aid in the fluctuating water availability throughout the year. The Toorji Ka Jhalra is adorned with beautiful embellishment and elegant carving on the rose sandstone. 

In the late afternoon or evening you may take an excursion to Bishnoi villages which will take about 2-3hrs including travel time, these are ethnic people mainly indulged in weaving, pottery work and wood carvings. Return to the hotel by evening and relax.  Overnight at the hotel.  

After an early breakfast drive to Pushkar (about 5-6hrs drive) - One of the Pilgrimages for Hindus. Visit The only Brahma Temple in the world is built at Pushkar, Pushkar Lake & Ghats – Holy Lake surrounded by over 50 bathing ghats, Pushkar Market – Great for boho clothes, silver jewellery, leather items. By evening we will leave for Jaipur.  Arrive Jaipur and check into the hotel. Rest in the hotel after a long but fulfilling day. 

Post Breakfast excursion to Amber Fort, which is among the most beautiful forts and gives a majestic view of the city down below. Visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors. You can have the Royal experience of traveling on an elephant back to and from the top of the hill on which the fort is situated.

Continue city tour of the Pink city and visit City Palace -the royal residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, which houses a museum in the heart of Jaipur which is a complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. Visit Central Museum with its huge collection of Jewelry, colorful costumes, woodwork, jewelry, costumes, brassware, and pottery, also visit Jantar Mantar, which is the largest of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. Next, we proceed to Hawa Mahal en-route we stop at Jal Mahal for a photo shoot. It is also known as ‘Palace of Winds’ because of its windows that allow the wind to flow in keeping it cool. There are 953 stone-carved screens or windows in the palace. It was constructed for the royal Ladies to watch the royal processions without being seen.   Rest of the time free to explore the colorful bazaars, famous for beautiful Jewelry, textile quality. Overnight at the hotel in Jaipur.      

Post breakfast drive for Agra enroute Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri. The first stop will be at Abhaneri which is a small village in northern Rajasthan. Begin at Chand Baori, one of the largest step wells in India, fortified on all sides. This unique idea was conceived by the early natives to work as a water reservoir, located adjacent to the temple dedicated to Harshat Mata, goddess of joy and happiness - an architectural jewel. Proceed further and take a lunch break in a midway. Our Next halt will be Fatehpur Sikri – the deserted city, India’s “Pompeli” once a glittering imperial capital, later mysteriously abandoned.  Today you will see the remarkably well-preserved building and red sandstone palaces. Arrive in Agra. Check into the Hotel. Evening at leisure.  Overnight stay at hotel. 

Sunrise in Agra typically occurs around 6:00 AM, so it’s important to arrive early to avoid the crowds and to experience the Taj Mahal in its peaceful, golden-hour glow. The Taj Mahal opens for visitors at Sunrise and you'll have plenty of time to explore the monument before the larger crowds arrive. 5:30 AM – Visit the Taj Mahal at Sunrise. Return to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast visit the Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of the Mughal Empire. Explore the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and Jahangir's Palace. The fort provides a great vantage point for taking photos of the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River. After spending some time for shopping, proceed for the best view of the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River, and visit Mehtab Bagh. This Mughal garden offers an uninterrupted view of the Taj Mahal and is a great spot for photography, especially if you're looking for a different perspective of the monument. Mehtab Bagh is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It’s about 5 km from the Taj Mahal. Return to the hotel around 7PM. Overnight at the hotel. 

After an early breakfast, transfer to station to board a train to Jhansi (Train number 22470 Departure 0745 and arrival at 1030hrs), Pick up from station and drive to Orcchha, visit the Chhatris, the Laxmi Narayan temple, Chaturbhuj temple, Raja Mahal and Dauji Ki Haveli. Later drive to Khajuraho.  Khajuraho famous for its stunning temples and rich history offers a unique blend of art, culture, and spirituality. Overnight at the hotel. 

After breakfast visit Western Group of Temples the most famous cluster in Khajuraho. Notable temples here include:  Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Lakshmana Temple, and Varaha Temple Spend about 2 hours exploring these temples, admiring their intricate carvings, and learning about their historical significance. 

Head to the Eastern Group of Temples, which are a bit less crowded but equally captivating. Key temples include: Jain Temples such as Adinath and Parshvanath Temples, known for their detailed carvings and serene ambiance, Vamana Temple: Dedicated to Vishnu and known for stunning sculptures.   Later we visit Panna National park for a safari Return to Khajuraho for night stay. 

After breakfast drive to Allahabad. Arrive and check into the hotel.  P.M. you may visit Anand Bhawan, the ancestral home of the Nehru-Gandhi family, or explore the historic Allahabad Fort and the Akshaya Vat tree. Evening: Visit the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Enjoy a boat ride if available.

After breakfast drive to Varanasi (3.5hrs) upon arrival in transfer to the hotel.  Later in the evening visit Dashashwamedh Ghat to see the evening Aarti (Prayers), after this magical experience return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. 

Early in the morning visit Manikarnika Ghats to see the morning rituals by a boat ride and learn more about the culture and rituals. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast visit various temples in Varanasi including the Banaras Hindu University and Sarnath, where Budha delivered his first sermon, explore silk centres of Varanasi and return to the hotel for a relaxed evening and night stay. 

Breakfast at the hotel. At pre-arranged time, transfer to the airport to board a flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to the hotel, we will provide the room/s for wash and change, followed by dinner and transfer to airport to board a flight back home.
