Itinerary

Upon arrival at Gwalior Airport or Railway Station, meet your representative and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, begin exploring one of Central India's most historic cities. Visit the magnificent Gwalior Fort, often described as the "Pearl among Fortresses." Explore the beautifully decorated Man Singh Palace, renowned for its colourful glazed tiles and intricate interiors. Continue to the ancient Sas Bahu Temples and the impressive Teli Ka Mandir, one of the tallest temples inside the fort complex.

 

Later visit the magnificent Jai Vilas Palace Museum, an opulent royal residence displaying priceless royal artefacts, antique furniture, vintage carriages, European paintings and one of the world's largest chandeliers. If time permits, visit the Tomb of Tansen, dedicated to the legendary musician of Emperor Akbar's court. Overnight: Gwalior

After breakfast, drive to Datia. Visit the magnificent Datia Palace (Bir Singh Palace), one of India's finest examples of Bundela architecture. This seven-storeyed palace was built without using iron or wooden beams and is adorned with beautiful frescoes and ornate balconies. Continue to Orchha, the medieval capital of the Bundela rulers. Arrive Orchha and check into the hotel. Rest of the time at leisure. Overnight at Orchha. 

After breakfast, visit the spectacular Orchha Fort Complex, including Jahangir Mahal, Raja Mahal, and Rai Praveen Mahal. Later explore the unique Ram Raja Temple, where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king, followed by the towering Chaturbhuj Temple and the picturesque Royal Cenotaphs (Chhatris) overlooking the Betwa River. Rest of the time at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. 

After breakfast, drive to the historic town of Chanderi, famous for its medieval monuments and exquisite handwoven silk sarees. Visit the imposing Chanderi Fort, offering panoramic views of the town. Continue to Badal Mahal Gate, Koshak Mahal, Jama Masjid, and the remarkable Kati Ghati Gateway, carved through a massive rock. Later, visit local weaving centres to witness the traditional craftsmanship of the world-famous Chanderi sarees.

Overnight: Chanderi

After breakfast, drive through scenic rural landscapes to Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arrive and check into the hotel.  In the evening, enjoy the fascinating Light & Sound Show, which narrates the history of the Chandela dynasty and the creation of the magnificent Khajuraho temples. Overnight: Khajuraho

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day exploration of the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho Group of Monuments. Visit the magnificent Western Group of Temples, including Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Lakshmana Temple, Vishwanath Temple, Devi Jagdambi Temple, Chitragupta Temple and Matangeshwar Temple.

 

Continue to the Eastern Group, renowned for its beautifully preserved Jain temples, including Parsvanath, Adinath and Ghantai Temples. Later visit the Southern Group, featuring Duladeo and Chaturbhuj Temples. The temples are celebrated for their remarkable sandstone carvings depicting mythology, spirituality, music, dance, and everyday life. Overnight: Khajuraho

After breakfast, drive to Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, known as the "City of Lakes." Upon arrival, check into the hotel. If time permits, enjoy an evening stroll along the scenic Upper Lake (Bhojtal). Overnight: Bhopal

After breakfast, explore Bhopal's rich cultural and historical attractions. 

Visit the impressive Taj-ul-Masajid, one of the largest mosques in India, followed by the fascinating Tribal Museum, showcasing the rich traditions and art of Madhya Pradesh's indigenous communities. Continue to the State Museum, Bharat Bhavan, Shaukat Mahal, Gohar Mahal, and enjoy panoramic views from Upper Lake and Lower Lake. Spend the evening exploring the vibrant local markets. Overnight: Bhopal

After breakfast, drive to Sanchi, home to India's finest Buddhist monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the magnificent Great Stupa, Ashokan Pillar, monasteries, temples, gateways (Toranas) and the Archaeological Museum. Continue to the nearby Udayagiri Caves, famous for their Gupta-period rock-cut sculptures, including the magnificent Varaha (Boar) incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Return to Bhopal. Overnight: Bhopal

After breakfast, drive to Bhojpur. Visit the unfinished yet magnificent Bhojeshwar Temple, housing one of India's largest Shiva Lingas. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, featuring prehistoric cave paintings dating back thousands of years. Explore numerous rock shelters depicting scenes of hunting, dancing and everyday life of prehistoric humans. Return to Bhopal. Overnight: Bhopal

After breakfast, take an excursion to Udayapur (Vidisha District), a lesser-known heritage town famous for the beautifully preserved Nilkantheshwar Temple, finest example of Paramara-period temple architecture.  Visit nearby historic sites and enjoy the peaceful rural surroundings before returning to Bhopal. Evening at leisure. Overnight: Bhopal
